The Materials
Zivanora pieces may be birth and designed wherever in the world the travel lust of our founder may take her but the jewels are hand fabricated in our studio in the vibrant city of Lagos, Nigeria.
Our pieces are made from brass or sterling silver and accented with various other materials as each collection comes to life.
We also have a few easy tips to keep your pieces shining and last longer.
Brass
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. Our brass is beautiful in its own way giving you the look and feel of yellow gold but without the high prices. With a soft buttery yellow color when brand new, it patinas over time, transitioning into various hues of gold as you wear it.
It is easy to clean, care for and restore back to its shiny yellow color. Read more on how to care for your brass pieces in our Jewelry Care Guide.
Sterling Silver
is an alloy of 92.5% pure Silver and 7.5% Copper and its luster and reflectivity is a feature we love.Care
- Avoid water, especially chlorinated water when wearing your piece because over time the silver will oxidize.
- The oils from your skin help keep silver from oxidizing faster. So, wear often.
- Store your piece in an airtight bag or with silica gels to slow down the rate of oxidation
GOLD-FILLED
Is a layer of gold, pressure bonded to another metal like brass. Gold filled is not the same as gold or gold plated as gold filled literally has more gold content in it. Gold-filled jewelry is much more valuable and tarnish resistant than gold plated.
We use gold-filled metals in our chains to prolong the life of your necklaces and claps as chains are usually exposed to sweat and chemicals from your skin care products more than other pieces.
Gold-filled is an affordable alternative to solid karat gold.
